All the Islands are managed by the NSW National Parks and require visitors to pay a landing fee. You should also check on access to the island via the National Parks website as sometimes the islands can be booked for private functions/events and may be closed to the public.

Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island is a famous UNESCO world heritage site situated at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cove River.  This world-famous island is steeped in history from a former convict penal establishment to a shipyard.

Clark Island

Located off the tip of Darling Point this quaint island spans just less than a hectare in size.  Named after Lieutenant Clark who would use the space as a vegetable patch in 1789 this small and isolated island offers a unique picnic spot with incredible views across the harbour.  A perfect island for a secluded wedding or private event.

Shark Island

A stone’s throw from Rose Bay sits the infamous Shark Island.  A fantastic island getaway with picnic shelters, a spacious gazebo and unrivalled views of harbour.  A trip to Shark Island is ideal if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

The island has picnic tables, toilets and extensive open areas for the kids to run around or swim and play on the beach.

Rodd Island

Rodd Island is located in sheltered waters of Iron Cove on the Parramatta River just off Birkenhead Point. This National Heritage site is now used as a function centre and recreation reserve. It’s a beautiful, picturesque place with sweeping river views and excellent amenities. It is very popular for picnics, weddings, and special functions.
