The Terms and Conditions detailed below apply when hiring a Sydney Cove Water Taxi. When you provide your credit card details to secure your booking, you agree to accept these terms and conditions. These are also applicable to any sub-contracted water taxi which may be used to perform the services requested.
Sydney Cove Water Taxis normal hours of operation are between the hours of 09.00am and 11.30pm Monday through to Saturday & 9.00 am to 9.00 pm Sunday. Of course we do take bookings outside of these times, varying surcharges apply to bookings outside of normal trading hours. The amount is shown in the final quote. Christmas Eve & Christmas Day are the only days we are not operating.
Cancellations and changes should be made in writing by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone conversation (no voice mail) 0414 708 020. Cancellations or changes shall not be effective until acknowledged by Sydney Cove Water Taxis.
If cancellation is made on the day of the confirmed advanced booking, Sydney Cove Water Taxis will charge 100% of the quoted fare to the nominated credit card, except in the case of an extreme weather event or warning.
In the month of December, if a cancellation is made 3 days prior to the confirmed advanced booking, Sydney Cove Water Taxis will charge 100% of the quoted fare to the nominated credit card, except in the event of an extreme weather event or warning.
Same Day Bookings
If you are to cancel a confirmed booking made on the same day of travel, 100% cancellation fee will be applied within a minimum of 4 hours’ notice prior to scheduled pick up time, except in the case of an extreme weather event or warning.
Same Day Immediate Bookings
Same day bookings that are confirmed for an immediate pick-up which are then cancelled while Sydney Cove Water Taxis are in transit to pick up point will be charged 100% of quoted fare with the nominated credit card.
Absent from Pick up
If you fail to arrive for your booking, it will be deemed as cancelled if the water taxi has waited for 15 minutes and departed, then 100% of the quoted fare will be charged with waiting time.
Cancellation of a booking will not be transferable to another day unless the change is requested 1 day or more from the original confirmed booking date.
New Years Eve, New Years Day & Australia Day. All allocated seats for fireworks are to be paid for in full, 14 days prior to the Event and are non-refundable.
All water taxi A – B trips and vessel transfers on 31 December and New Years Day until 11.00AM are subject to a surcharge. All bookings are required to be made by email or phone call on 0414 708 020.
The Online Quotation Calculator is not applicable for bookings created before or after normal operating hours, special events such as but not limited to New Years Eve, New Years Day and Australia Day. This is due to varying surcharges being applied depending on the circumstance.

Any booking is inclusive of up to 4 passengers for the journey, additional passengers thereafter are charged $10 p.p. on top of the base fare. All bookings are exclusive, whereby your water taxi booking is not shared with any other parties. New Years Eve is the exception to this condition, whereby seats are sold on a per person basis unless you choose to charter the whole water taxi for the 9.00pm or Midnight cruises.
If you do need to amend your confirmed booking time, you must notify Sydney Cove Water Taxis by phone at least 45 minutes beforehand. Failure to notify will incur waiting time fees. We will do our best to accommodate your request. However, we must take other bookings into consideration. Please ensure you are ready to go at the requested time to avoid these charges.
Amended passenger numbers
Your fare is calculated on the day of booking by the number of people travelling on the day. If however the passenger numbers increase or decrease on the day of travel, please inform us prior to the day so you will be charged accordingly. The original confirmed quote will otherwise be charged on the day. If you are unsure of final numbers, just book for the minimal number ie. 5 passengers, then we can adjust the price when we have the final number travelling.
Sydney Cove Water Taxis will require your Credit card details in order to secure a booking. However, at the time of your requested journey, payment on board with cash, credit card or EFTPOS may be done. Sorry, we do not take CABCHARGE at this time. No merchant fees are applied to EFTPOS, cheque / savings or credit card transactions.
Sydney Cove Water Taxis reserves the right to charge the credit card supplied by the customer (unless paid on board at the time of travel) for fees due as a consequence of any of these circumstances; cancellations, extra passengers, waiting time, changes to pick up or destination or extended journeys.
Waiting time fees of $3.00 per minute per boat will apply after five minutes of the scheduled pick up time. Minutes thereafter will be charged for the full time accrued.
Should there be a weather warning issued by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology or if there is an excessive swell height, Sydney Cove Water Taxis may determine that it is unsafe to travel. At no cost to the customer, we reserve the right to cancel any affected bookings, with no liability held against Sydney Cove Water Taxis by the customer for any losses incurred.
In the unlikely event of a mechanical breakdown, previous customers running late causing a “domino effect”, adverse weather or harbour traffic movements to contend with, Sydney Cove water Taxis will endeavour to provide an alternate water taxi for you as soon as is practical if there is a significant delay pending as a result. Sydney Cove Water Taxis will not be held liable for any losses or inconveniences incurred by the customer as a result of these unforseen circumstances.
